This 8 day trip seems like it comes straight out of a winter wonderland. Beginning in Oslo, you’ll see all the highlights of Norway’s Capital city like the Royal Palace and the Viking Ship Museum. Then, you’ll take a plane ride all the way to Tromso to witness the magical Northern Lights on the deck of a catamaran in the Norwegian Sea. What’s even better than seeing this magical natural show is witnessing the local Sami people in their element lasso-throwing, reindeer-sledding, and dog-sledding across the tundra with 350 huskies. Your last stop will take you to Kirkenes where you can indulge in a Christmas Eve dinner, get hands on in catching your very own Arctic king crab for lunch, and even head out of a snowmobile ride. Northern Norway is a land of winter treasures where you can expect to get your fix of every winter dream you’ve wanted to live out.

Weather and Climate

Norway experiences extreme cold in the winter – particularly in sub polar regions – and gentle heat in the summer. The best time to visit is between mid-May and August, unless you’re coming to ski, in which case the best time is December to the end of March. Northern parts inside the Arctic Circle have non-stop daylight in midsummer and twilight all day during winter.

Day 1 :Oslo

When you arrive at the airport, you will be picked up by your private driver and assistant to assist you to the hotel and check in. You’ll receive your welcome package and you can take this leisure time to do some self-exploring of the city and its food before turning in for the night.

Day 2 :Oslo - ½ Day Walking Tour

Explore the heart of Oslo walking through the 13th century Akershus Fortress and the 19th century Royal Palace where you can frolic around the 54 acre Palace Park. Then, you’ll reenter the present with a visit to Oslo’s City Hall where the annual Nobel Peace Prize ceremony is held. Finish the day with some Scandinavian culture at the Vigeland Park and Viking Ship Museum.

Day 3 :Oslo - Tromso (2 hours)

Board a 2 hour transfer from Oslo to Tromso. When you get there you’ll have some free time to explore the harbor on your own leisure. There are shops, restaurants, attractions, and cafes around every corner. Just be sure to get a good night’s rest to prepare for a jam packed next day.

Day 4 :Tromso - 7 Hour Sami Culture and Reindeer Sledding Tour

For a crash course in Sami culture, you’re gonna start the day with a once in a lifetime experience reindeer sledding and even try lasso throwing. On this excursion, you’ll learn all about Sami culture. If you are going from November to march, you may be able to catch the Northern Lights overhead. Included in this excursion is a hot meal and insulated clothing.

Day 5 :Tromso - ½ Day Dog Sledding Tour, 3 hour Northern Lights Cruise

Explore the Tromso Wilderness Center where you can travel across the snow led by Alaskan huskies with majestic natural views of the mountains and the sea. Then, you’ll be taken to the dog yard to meet husky puppies and eat a traditional Sami meal with homemade cake and coffee served around an open fire. Then, you cruise on a polar catamaran to catch the Northern lights while served a fish dinner.

Day 6 :Tromso - Kirkenes (1 Hour 15 Minutes)

While your stay at Tromso ends here, you’ll be embarking on the last leg of your journey to Kirkenes. Surrounded by snow and immersed in your surroundings, you can catch the beauty of Arctic culture just be careful not to catch the Arctic chills.

Day 7 :Kirkenes - 4 Hour King Crab Fishing

One of the most fulfilling things you could do is catch your own king crab to eat. Led by guides, you’ll have the chance to do just that before you are transported by snowmobile to a farmhouse by the lake where your perfectly cooked king crab meal awaits. This excursion includes warm clothing and transfer to and from your hotel.

Day 8 :Kirkenes

Your last day of bracing the cold is coming to an end. While it is bittersweet to say goodbye to the spectacular views in Kirkenes, you have so many amazing memories to bring home as you are transferred to the International Airport.
